Poverty and the Arts (POVA) presents:
"The Great Within"

Collaborative art by the POVA Artist Collective and Andrés Bustamante of Persona Contemporary at LabCanna East Gallery in collaboration with the Fort Houston Artisan Support Project.

In November 2019, local artist Andrés Bustamante taught a workshop at the POVA studio and gallery in East Nashville about the use of spray paint and creating as a form of coping and expression. The POVA Artist Collective participated in a group discussion about the exploration of art mediums that can be a source of healing. Following their round-table sharing, Andrés and the POVA Artist Collective used neon acrylic and spray paint to create these collaborative pieces. The artists rotated around the pieces contributing their unique styles, patterns, and techniques.

Join us for our opening reception of "The Great Within" on Saturday, December 14 from 6-9pm at LabCanna East Gallery. The show will be up throughout December.

Participating POVA artists include:

  • Angela Federico

  • Bandy

  • Beth Gunn

  • Daniel Holmes

  • Edwin Lockridge

  • Ellie Kane

  • Kateri

  • Tré Deuce Ronin

The pieces on display are available for purchase with a donation of $25 or more to POVA. Your generous donations help POVA offer more workshops, creative outlets, and economic opportunities for people impacted by homelessness.
